Rosario Gen. 1 Ch. 1

There he is, Morris Rosario, camping out on his own land, his Legacy lot on top of the hill from which he has a marvelous view over the lake. The piece of land is huge, but the sum of money he has to start with is very humble. He has made a little hut that serves as bathroom. All his other, not very important, belongings are standing on the lawn. He is actually camping out on his own land.
And how does he feel now, being the selected founder, all by himself, all alone. Yes, indeed, he feels alone. But the feeling is familiar. When he was a boy living in his family of 5 brothers and sisters, has felt alone very often. And back then he had no means to change anything.
Now, he owns his own land, can keep his own money and go after his own happiness.
To become really happy, Morris needs more money, desperately more money. So he takes the newspaper and looks for a job. And there it is: becoming a pickpocket. He has dreamt all his life of becoming a criminal mastermind, so this could be an excellent start. He applies right away and to his surprise he can start the next day. How much more luck can you get in one day……
Morris decides to make a painting. It seems like a fun pass-time and maybe he can make some money out of it. The first strokes are a bit unsteady, but the more Morris has done, the more he likes the result.
When he has been painting for over 2 hours, suddenly he hears some people coming to his land. They’re some townies, curious to find out who came to live here. They present themselves as Marisa Bendett, Benjamin Long and Marylena Hamilton. The last one seems the most kind and they start chatting. By the end of the day Morris has made his first friend, dark-haired Marylena. He goes off to sleep, tired but satisfied.

The next few days, Morris spends on his land, painting and working on other skills he needs for his job. He is so eager to succeed that he gets promoted very soon.
He also talkes regularly to Marylena on the phone and tells her all about his successes and the promotion. Marylena is very proud of her friend and she tells her about her dreams. What she wants most in the world is to get 10 babies and raise them and see her grandchildren. Once she starts about babies, Morris becomes silent. He knows what it’s like to live in a large family and he doesn’t want that for his offspring to happen. Of course, according to the Legacy rules, he needs to get an heir at some point, but having 2 or 3 children will do very well for that matter.
So Morris and Marylena have become best friends, but he can’t imagine her to be his wife. Their expectations are too different. Where does he find a woman, nice, attractive and not too much into having babies?
Morris meets some women at work and also pizza deliveries are done sometimes by women. But he never feels the sparkle when he sees them and they don’t seem too interested in him either.

So life goes on in its daily routine and Morris still hasn’t found Ms. Right. He has made another promotion and he is now a burglar. The night schedule makes it even more difficult to have time to date and Morris starts feeling a bit desperate sometimes. Marylena senses it and calls more often to display her nice character and her dreams of marriage and kids. Morris doesn’t take the bait, but he isn’t as happy on his own any more.
Then one day, somewhere during the afternoon, Morris realizes he has run out of groceries. He hasn’t time to go shopping so he orders the groceries by phone. Half an hour later, a small van stops by Morris’ belongings and the delivery guy hops out …. wait a moment … it’s not a guy but a girl! A woman! Morris feels the sparkle in his body and he starts to breathe a little faster. It couldn’t be, this woman, arriving at his doorstep on an ordinary afternoon. He quickly walks over to her to pay for the groceries and take over the basket. Such a beautiful woman shouldn’t be carrying groceries in ugly baskets, wearing an ugly uniform.
He quickly puts the groceries in the fridge and runs back to give her a big tip. That way he is sure of getting her attention. When he looks up to her face, he drowns in the most beautiful blue eyes he ever saw and he blushes a little. The woman already turns to her van, ready to go to her next customer, but Morris quickly starts chatting to her about the weather and the nice people of Aalsmeer Valley. She stops and returns to him and talks to him with the softest voice he ever heard. Who is she? Where does she live? Suddenly he hears her say that she really has to go now.
“Yes of course,” he stammers, “you are working. Well, it was nice talking to you, miss …. uhm.”
“Hamilton, miss Marylena Hamilton. I agree. See you around!”
Morris is puzzled, there is another woman living by the same name as his best friend. But he knows for sure that from now on, there will be no other Marylena for him than this blond-haired Marylena, the grocery girl.

I’m so glad that Morris got selected! I’m excited to see what happens between him and the blond Marylena.
