Rosario Gen. 1 Ch. 3
When Morris got home from work, he couldn’t fall asleep immediately. He was still thinking of ways to tell Marylena about his job. He didn’t want to keep a secret from her, but he dreaded her reaction.
Finally he got out of bed, got dressed, cleaned his house and worked on his skills to get another promotion. If only she could understand that he had to do this, that it would offer him a happiness no other job could give him.
At the end of the afternoon, Marylena arrived. They kissed each other and then Morris asked her if she wanted pizza for dinner. Marylena thought it was alright, so Morris called the pizza delivery.

When the pizza arrived, Morris and Marylena set down to eat. Morris was still silent, he didn’t know how to start. Marylena sensed something was wrong.
“Is something the matter, Morris? You have been so quiet ever since I came to you. I’m not used to a silent Morris.”
“Well, actually, there is something I have to tell you. And I don’t know how you will react. You will probably be scared already by what I am saying now. I just hope you want to hear me out.”
“Of course I will hear you out. Gosh, it must be really important, if you are so uptight about it.”
“Yes, I am. You know, I never told you what I do for a living. I know of course what you do, it’s very obvious. But the job I have isn’t obvious. It’s hidden, it’s secret.”
“Please, tell me what it is? Are you a criminal or something?”
“Yes, I am,” Morris confirms very silently. He barely dares to look at Marylena and he anxiously waits for her reaction.
“Morris, tellme, you are a criminal? How come? Did you have a bad youth? Are you being blackmailed by someone? Do you have debts?”
Every reaction had been expected by Morris, but not this one. She wasn’t furious, she didn’t start to cry or to yell at him. She sounded understanding, wanted to know why he had become a criminal, but she didn’t judge that choice, for now.
He cleared his throat and answered her questions. “I did have a bad youth, my brother is a criminal too, but that isn’t the reason. And no, I’m not blackmailed and I don’t have debts. No, the reason I became a criminal was that from the moment I entered Aalsmeer Valley I had this feeling. It said that entering the criminal track would give me a happiness no other career could possibly give me. Call it a vision, call it a lifetime want, I knew I had to do it. I have to go through this career to reach something I cannot reach any other way. Moreover it helps me live through my youth and finally learn to put it behind me. Contradictory as it may sound, being a criminal cleanses me of things that have bothered me for a very long time.”
Morris is silent now, his story is told, his arguments presented. He quickly looks up to Marylena, only to notice the tears falling down her cheeks.
“Oh Morris, I had no idea of the things you have suffered before. And I think it is a good thing to follow your visions. I know in my heart that you are a good man and you are still dear to me.”
“Would you still want to go out with me, now that you know what I do, that you know what kind of people I work with?”
“Are they dangerous? Do they come after you when you are done working?”
“No, most of the time not. It’s just when I’m out there, doing my job when it’s dangerous. You don’t have anything to fear when you are around me. Do you still want to be around me, Mary?”
“Yes, I do. I still love you. No, I even love you more. I wish I could change your life, help you get the same kind of fulfillment from another job, but I can’t. Oh Morris.”

Morris goes over to Marylena and they start making out. They lie down on the sofa and let their passion and their emotions flare in their kisses until they are out of breath. Morris looks down at Marylena and he sees the laugh in her eyes. He starts tickling her until she can stand it anymore and runs into the open field of Morris’ land. Morris doesn’t follow her immediately, but quickly puts his hand under the sofa. His hand goes into his pocket as he starts running after Marylena. He catches up with her very soon and they start tickling and giggling like teenagers. All of a sudden, Morris is serious again and….

kneels down in front of Marylena.
“Dear, lovely, beautiful Marylena, now that you know everything there is to know about me, now that you even know what I do for a living, please, do you want to marry me and make me the happiest man alive.”
Marylena smiles while tears start running down her cheeks. “Of course, Morris, I do, I do. You make me very happy too.” Marylena puts the golden ring on her finger and jumps into Morris’ arms. With their lips they seal their promisses to each other.
That same night, Morris and his Mary start planning their wedding. Morris has saved enough to throw a little party. Mary has always wanted to marry under a rose-arch, so they order one right away. In two days, they are going to be husband and wife. They don’t want to wait any longer.

Everything is done in time: the invitations are send, the arch has been delivered, Marylena has arranged for some food from her work. All they have to do now is change into their wedding costumes and wait for the guests. Of course Jacob Van ‘t Ent, the producer of the Legacy show, is invited with his family and so are all the neighbors. Morris hesitated on inviting the other Marylena, because he feared this whole wedding is going to hurt her. On the other hand, she is his best friend and he never gave her false hope or anything. If she can’t handle the invitation in a mature way, then she can decide for herself to decline. But as it turns out, everybody has accepted the invitation and all are present now.

Morris and Marylena step under the arch and speak their vows to each other. Then they exchange the rings and Morris may finally kiss his bride. The guests applaud and cheer at the happy couple. Even dark-haired Marylena does, although her face looks sad. Morris doesn’t want to look at her too much and follows his Mary to the wedding cake. When the official part is over, the guests start talking to each other and eat some of the turkey and salad.
Jacob takes Morris aside. “Lovely wedding, I guess this will guarantee good ratings and a larger audience for this show. I’m very pleased with the choice you made. Keep up the good work.”
“Thank you, Jacob, I’m glad you’re pleased. But Marylena and I, it is true love. We didn’t do this for the ratings.”
“I know, I know, but that is what I have to think about. By the way, does she know about your career?”
“Yes, of course. I told her and she took it very well. She understands my choice and respects that. But I guess you know what I mean.”
“Well, uhm, to tell you the truth, Elise doesn’t know about my activities. She thinks that all the money I earn is coming from the production company. And she would freak out if she only know about the people I work with and what they can be up to.”
“Oh.” Morris is silent, but he doesn’t feel like getting into the private problems of his producer. On the other hand, he knows Marylena isn’t too happy about the people he has to with. He just hopes he is right and that they won’t come after her.
When he sees dark-haired Marylena, he excuses himself to Jacob and goes to her.
“Enjoying yourself at my party?” Morris asks her.
Marylena looks at him almost angry, but then she controls herself again. “Well, the food is OK and the groom is a fine young man, so yes, I have a good time.”
“I’m glad to hear that. I hope we can still be friends, we have always been best friends and I would hate to loose one.”
“Well, it won’t be because of me if the friendship changes. You are the one with the wife and the Legacy. And I would like very much to remain your friend.”
Morris looks at her a bit worried. Where does this sarcasm come from? But he knows she is disappointed, so he understands this is a hard day for her. He decides to let her control their friendship, after all she is the one that is let down.

Then Morris sees his Mary dancing and he quickly joins her. Together they dance until the end of the party. The guest look admiringly at the happy couple who enjoy their wedding party to the most. When evening has come, a big limo comes up to take the bride and groom to their honeymoon. Tired but happy Morris and Marylena sit down in the limo. They immediately start talking about the wedding and the great party, the marvelous gifts they got and everything. Before they know, they are lying in their bed, where they …. well you know what two people in love do when they are just married:

Haha, cute ending with the little whirling woohoo symbols.
I’ve caught up on all your updates now and enjoyed every one of them. Morris and Marylena are a great couple!

Congratulations! Looked like a smashing party. And why can’t the other Marylena be HAPPY for him? That’s what friends do after all. *sigh*
Oh well. Great update!

It got to like Morris and Marylena very much too. I’m quite attached to them and I like to play them more than the Van ‘t Ent family. I will post an update on the Rosario family as soon as I can.
