Main events of the week
As shown by the list of inhabitants, Monica Kleingeld has already left her house and the PROSPERITY PROJECT. In fact she never even left the cab that brought her and her son Kevin to Geluksboulevard 3. When the taxi drove off, it took Monica away to an unknown destiny, leaving the teenage boy alone.
The boy had a hard time coping the first few days. Not only he was living on his own at so young an age, but he also had to make some income while in the same time going to school. He barely had time to grieve about the disappearance of his mother. After a few days however he realized she wasn’t coming back and the responsibility to take care of himself was heavy on him. He didn’t go to school on wednesday and spent a lot of the day inside. Clearly, the boy missed his mother and felt alone.
He didn’t break down completely however, due to the friendships he had started building from his arrival and the rythm provided by school and job. One of his first friends was Derek the paperboy. They hung out in front of the house a lot.

Derek was also the first one to hear about the tragic event of Monica’s disappearance. From what Kevin told Derek, it can be concluded he thinks she got herself killed. Probably by a train. Monica had been a psychiatric patient for a long time already and especially the last year had been tough. Of course Kevin can’t be sure, but by assuming she is dead he can try to close the book on his mother and focus on his future.

He wasn’t open about his mother to all his friends, though. He told Ricky for example that she was making a trip around the world. The truth, or at least what he thought to be the truth was too painful. It was a wound he tried to hide behind his mask of a nice boy making contact to his neighborhood.
The talking to his friends, whether he was frank or not, seemed to do him good. After a few days, Kevin had gathered himself and he had done all the homework needed and got his first promotion at work. It seemed like he had found a way to deal with the difficulties he had encountered in his young life.

Later that week, Kevin even had some flirtations with Sophie Miguel, who lives in another part of Rotterdam. It didn’t take long before they were best friends. Kevin is obviously attracted by Sophie, but he isn’t going after her. She is too occupied with money, while Kevin focusses on family and friends. He doesn’t want to be left alone ever again and likes to be surrounded by people.

By the end of the week, Kevin already had made 5 friends, three of which were best friends. He was doing much better at school too. And on sunday he even got promoted to Team Mascot of Feyenoord. He had reached to top of his career as a teen and had proven he could survive a few storms.
Kevin doesn’t know yet that his mothers disappearance has been reported to the official international authorities. Maybe she can be found, maybe her fate will be known for sure. But for now, her son Kevin in doing OK in proceeding the PROSPERITY PROJECT.
Achievements:
Networth: $ 16.069
Miscellaneous: Reached top of teen career of Athletics

I really like the way you’re doing this challenge! I always thought it would be neat to do a prosperity challenge, but with all the expansion packs, it’s hard to with the different legacy challenges. I’ve already got two challenges going right now! But good luck with your’s! I’ll be reading every update!

Thank you for your comments.
@ Jessica: I tried the Legacy challenge a few times but I feel challenges that are played with a whole neighborhood, like Prosperity and Neighborhood Challenge, are more my cup ‘o tea. I always hated to leave the legacy non-heirs behind and if you play them too, the legacy is going to take forever. BTW, I relly liked the lay-out of your site
@ Jen:
Today or tomorrow I’m going to write the second report about the Lagemaat family. All I can say now is that they are very comfortable in their home after the first week
@ Jenn:
Thanks but I feel a teen alone isn’t very hard to play, compared to, say, my Minderhout family with one elder, one teen and 2 toddlers!!!
