Main events of the week
It’s always interesting to see how different people cope in different ways with the same tragedy.

After the death of his father, Mark Lagemaat withdrew himself and only went to school and work. Nothing else could really touch him and he hardly ever spoke to his mother about his feelings. He had a hard time at school, but he was fairly disciplined so he was able to remain at school. However, he felt depressed most of the time.

This depression was aggravated even more because he still hadn’t been with a girl yet. He longed to go steady with a nice girl, marry her and have lots of children with her. A happy family was all he ever wanted. And now, he didn’t even feel he really had family at all.

Linda Lagemaat saw the struggle of her son, but she didn’t know how to reach him. Her way of dealing with unpleasant things in live is going after pleasure as much as possible. Since she couldn’t get Mark to accompany her, Linda often went downtown on her own.

Linda downtown

Very soon she met different men that attracted her very much. A certain mr. Goopy GilsCarbo paid a lot of attention to Linda at the dancefloor, but she knew he wasn’t the kind of man she was looking for. Her dream husband had to make her feel secure, most of all financially. She sure never wanted to be left with nothing by a man anymore. But you know, Linda can’t say No to a good date!

Linda meets Charles Collins

Very soon however, Linda met this man who was acting like he was Mr. Big. Always primping and being kind of arrogant. But when Linda found out he always choose lobster in the restaurant and was wearing nice clothes all the time, she figured he could really be mr. Big and her knight in shining armour. She tried to get to know him and finally he agreed to have dinner with her.

Over dinner, Linda flirted and made nice conversation. It took some time and effort, but finally he seemed to notice how attractive she really was and started to flirt back at her. Now that Charles Collins had put aside his mask, he really couldn’t hide his affection for Linda and the two of them had several dream dates. Finally Linda dared to ask him to come to her house. Since it wasn’t very nice and comfortable, she was afraid how Charles would react.

Linda engaged

Well, Charles didn’t seem to notice the shabby furniture and the cheap wallpaper. All he saw was beautiful Linda and minutes after he entered her house, he proposed to her to get engaged. Of course Linda excepted, because this was all she wanted.

She hadn’t even presented her lover to her son Mark, but all she thought about was her own happiness. And married to Charles, she would be really happy. She expected Mark not to make a fuss about it and to be glad for his mother. After all, he was a family man and with Charles, they would be a family again.

Charles and Linda married

Charles and Linda decided to get married instantly in a small ceremony. He then revealed how large his fortune was and Linda was astonished. He brought over $ 70K and some sculptures and furniture. That same night he earned a $ 40K bonus at a party, so Linda and Charles decided to change the house. They added a floor, a basement and an attic and bought some new furniture.

Linda pregnant

Soon after their wedding and the renovations to the house, Linda found out she was pregnant. One of the new bedrooms was changed into a nursery. Charles and Linda were very happy to have a baby together soon and enjoyed their life together.

Mark had watched his mother and saw how happy she was with Charles. He then decided it was time to take matters in his own hands, his future and happiness in his own hands. Since his grades and his job were OK, he decided he had deserved a night off.

He went downtown to a nice cafe and met a lovely girl at the chess table. Her name was Joy Hogan and she was interested in almost everything. They had a very nice evening together and Mark decided he wanted to see her some other time again. That weekend they had another date and spent lots of time together.

Mark and Joy share their first kiss

Finally Mark had dared to lean over to Joy to share with her a first kiss, when his stepfather came barging in. But Joy didn’t want to stop and so they shared their first kiss in the livingroom under the eyes of Charles Collins. Mark didn’t really care. He had found his girlfriend and hopefully his soulmate, the mother of his children.

  2. I like that house. I can’t make basements even with the tutorials that are available that people rave about.

Groetjes, Lia

  8. Great update! I love how you’re doing this challenge. I’m struggling enough with my legacy challenge, much less multiple families at the same time! Great job, and I can’t wait till the next post!
