Karin’s Sims 2 stories

It’s been a while

It’s been a while since I posted here, let alone since I posted a story. I haven’t stopped playing Sims2 though, I just find it hard to make time to write a story.

Yet I can’t really let go of storytelling, so I am preparing 2 stories!. One will be in Dutch and will be about my Boomtown challenge. This challenge is going really well so far. Now I want to try tell stories in my native language about them. Something which I haven’t done as much as telling stories in English.

Also I have started recently a new Prosperity challenge. My allergy about uni isn’t as strong anymore, so I have dared to start all over. I will start posting about these families anytime soon on this blog. Yes, it will be in English.

But what about your family & fortune challenge, some might ask. You’re right, I have completely forgotten about them. Boomtown has a lot of the same elements but is more interesting due to the different classes that are involved. So at this point I don’t know if I will ever start a family and fortune challenge myself. I might use the different scoring to compare it’s outcome with the traditional scoring of Prosperity and Boomtown, see if the number of points will be very different or not.

Talk to you soon!

Family & Fortune challenge - new prosperity variety

Driven by the want to combine my two favorite challenges - Neighborhood Challenge and Prosperity Challenge - and by the boredom of playing university, I have created a new challenge, called the Family and Fortune challenge. It is really a combination of these 2 challenges, but the base document for the rules is the Prosperity challenge. I eliminated the university parts, added some elements from the neighborhood challenge and put my own flavour to it, resulting in a new scoring too.

Besides the elimination of university, the challenge isn’t started by families but by single adult founders. I integrated OFB already.

Of course I’m open for suggestions …. and for people wanting to compete with me ;) Storylines are for sissies ;) )))))) * uh, I mean, looking for people who are looking for a non-uni challenge and explore the possibilities of interesting storylines without SimState or Academie Le Tour.

OK, I’m serious again now and I want to thank Sheri, Robin and Rachel for them letting me use elements of their challenges to create the Family & Fortune Challenge.

The complete rules with full credit have been uploaded to both the TS2challenges and the Prosperity group. This week, I will upload a score- and tracking sheet too.

Family & Fortune Challenge: rules and scoring

Family & Fortune Challenge

This challenge has been created by mixing up my two favorites, Prosperity and Neighborhood, and keeping the best of both. Before I continue describing this challenge, I want to give credit first to Rachel for creating the Neighborhood Challenge and to Robin and Sheri for creating the Prosperity Challenge. Much of the actual wording of this challenge is copied directly from the Prosperity Challenge for the situations that were not, or only slightly, changed. They were written by the original authors of that challenge.

The other reason I created this challenge, is because I was looking for a generational challenge that wouldn’t give so many points for university achievements. In this challenge, playing university is just one possible strategy towards its goal: a crowded and wealthy neighborhood. (more…)

Catootje is (almost) back

After a break from Sims and a long break from blogging, I’m planning to restart a blog about my Sims families.

Currently I’m playing the Neighborhood challenge. My founder is Dana Fortuin, a red-heared Family sim. The second generation has started to graduate from University already and the family is doing very well. I think I have made enough pictures along the way to fill you in from time to time about their lives and my progress with this challenge.

The other neighborhood I’m playing contains the original Sims families from the Sims Estates 2 site. They live in the original Sims 1 houses and it is fun to play them from time to time. And I never played them in Sims 1 ;-) Maybe I will play the Pleasantview people in Sims3 or something :-D .

I have just thought about a new project: the Prosperity Challenge. I have already diced the families and I am working on a story to go with them.

Also from time to time I consider restarting the Royal Kingdom Challenge, the (Xtreme) Legacy challenge or one of the other challenges you can find at the TS2 Challenges group.

My other blog, Flowers Legacy Saga, still exists, although these families don’t exist anymore. The same goes for the Aalsmeer Valley and Kingdom of Batavia stories on this blog.

I might not update this blog very frequently, but you are very welcome to come check every once in a while.
